This is what we usually do when we give you work to the translators: No
P.O. The email message is binding on both sides and states the rate per source word in US$ the language pair, the type of software to use to send the translation and the deadline. Once the translator and we have agreed on a rate, we will send an email to the translator to tell him/her to go ahead. Sometimes, there are two rates: Translation rate and Proofreading rate. Those two rates form the total rate we can afford to pay for the translation. QualityGenerally the translation is proofread by another translator and, if the quality is bad and the proofreader has to charge more, the extra charge is deducted from the translator rate.Deadline
If the deadline is not respected either by the translator or by the proofreader,
a penalty of one cent US per word and per day is applied for the files that have
not been sent back in time. This is not our decision but most of the time the
decision of the client who is applying this penalty to us. In this case, of
course, the client is a translation agency! This is the reason why our rates are
usually very low but also why we have a lot of work.
PaymentThe translator sends the invoice as a Word file attached to the email after he/she has sent the translation. Invoice and translation should not be sent in the same email. Never zip the invoice, it is to small. The payment of the translation is usually made 60 days after the work is done. Sometimes before and sometimes after. It depends on when we receive the check from the client. We want to make it very clear that we are the intermediary between the clients and the translators and that we are not the end user of the translation.Payment is made either by check in US dollars. |
