Gete Wami
by Phil Minshull Ethiopia's Gete Wami won the World Championships 10,000 meters last summer in Seville in a PR of 30:24:56, the fastest time of the year and the fifth-fastest time ever. Previously she
was best known as a cross-country runner and won gold medals at the 1996 and 1999 World Cross-Country Championships as well as taking bronze medals during the intervening years of 1997 and 1998. Prior to
winning in Seville, her achievements over 10,000 meters on the track included a 1996 Atlanta Olympic bronze medal, and the 1992 World junior silver medal. Click here More==> |
